Chereca Weaver, Senior Youth Officer in the Department of Youth Empowerment said the imagination of the audience will be stimulated.

“There is an aim for persons sitting and watching, the young persons and even the older persons can say hmm that seems relatively simple but it has impact. Let me go find something to volunteer in,” she stated

In order to reach the right target, an invitation was sent to each high school and primary school on island inviting them to select students to attend. Free tickets are available to any member of the public and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. They can be collected from the Department of Youth Empowerment on Church Street. Persons are asked to be seated by 7:15 p.m. in order for the event to start shortly after.

Ms. Weaver encouraged persons to attend in order to support the young people. Additional information is available by telephone 467-1395. A similar event featuring the volunteer projects of the six remarkable teens from Nevis was held on April 17.

The 25 Most Remarkable Teen Award is an annual initiative that recognizes outstanding youth doing extraordinary things in nontraditional categories such as dance, sports, culinary arts, courage to overcome and others. Nominations are currently open for the 2014 awards. Successful nominees are awarded during a special sitting of the National Assembly in November.
