Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 06, 2016 (SKNIS): The need for consistent customer service excellence was stressed by Minister of Health, Hon. Eugene Hamilton at the re-opening of the Mary Charles Hospital last week.

Minister Hamilton emphasized that the Ministry of Health would hold those who were responsible for running the medical institution accountable for ensuring that this was done efficiently and effectively.

“This facility will have administrative, medical and nurse managers who will be held accountable for ensuring that the right things are done and done well to the satisfaction of everyone who seeks and receives a service here,” he said.  “Much can and will be done here in Molineux, at Mary Charles Hospital without the need to go to Basseterre.  That is why we have put this edifice at this particular point to make sure that that you don’t have to go to Basseterre if it’s not necessary.”

The Minister of Health added the expectation that health professionals along with all others who came to work within the walls of Mary Charles Hospital would be held to the same high standards of service.  This would include residents living specifically in the Cayon to Dieppe Bay area, but anyone living in the Federation can receive medical assistance at the hospital

“To those of us who will come here for service, I trust that you will always meet warm, friendly, courteous and professional nurses, mental health workers, doctors, dental health officers, environmental health officers, social workers, health educators, people of service, all working as a team to ensure the delivery of service to all the people in need,” Minister Hamilton said.  This is your very own facility, now take good care of it.”

Likewise Minister of State with responsibility for Health, Honourable Wendy Phipps said that customer service expectations were very high.

“I would be very disappointed if having opened this facility, we do not have our nursing and medical complement step up to the plate and give this refurbished institution, the type of top quality service that the people of this area deserve,” she said.
