BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 19TH, 2016 (PRESS SEC) – Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris has an array of activities on his calendar this week, including the 13th Annual Help-a-Child Program Primary School Scholarship Award Ceremony, which will see him, the program’s founder, present $500.00 each to 60 primary school students in his Constituency (Saint Christopher 7 – Belle Vue to Ottley’s) today, Wednesday, October 19th, 2016.
This afternoon’s ceremony will take place at the Estridge Moravian Church in Mansion’s Village from 5:00pm.
The $30,000.00 in bursaries to be presented at the ceremony will bring the value of scholarships awarded under the Help-a-Child Program to $217,500.00. A total of 375 bursaries valued at $500.00 each were given to students in previous years. “Several entities give support to my efforts, making it possible for me to help so many,” Prime Minister Harris said on Monday, October 17th.
Tomorrow, Thursday, in Tortola, Prime Minister Harris will be the special guest from 8:00pm on ZBVI Radio 780 AM’s program Umoja [which means unity in Swahili] hosted by Mr. Cromwell Smith who is popularly known as Edju En Ka. You can listen live at http://www.zbviradio.com.
While in Tortola, Dr. Harris is also scheduled to tape an interview that will be broadcast on a future edition of Edju En Ka’s television talk show Spotlight, which airs Tuesdays at 8:00pm and rebroadcasts Sundays at 2:30pm on JTV Channel 55.
On Friday, October 21st, the 86th Meeting of the Monetary Council of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) will convene via video conference from the headquarters of the ECCB in Basseterre, St. Kitts. Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, who is the OECS Authority Chairman, is scheduled to join the 9:00am meeting via video conference from Premier Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith’s office in Tortola.
The next day, Saturday, October 22nd, Prime Minister Harris and his delegation to the British Virgin Islands will meet with Nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis who live in the BVI. The venue for the 8:00pm town hall meeting is the Althea Scatliffe Primary School in Road Town.
The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis’ delegation to the British Virgin Islands will include Mr. Duncan Wattley, Director of the Department of People’s Empowerment in the Office of the Prime Minister. Outreach to Kittitians and Nevisians who live in the diaspora falls under Mr. Wattley’s purview.
