BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, NOVEMBER 1ST, 2016 (PRESS SEC) : The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, has extended congratulations to St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Prime Minister, Dr. the Honourable Ralph Gonsalves, and Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister, the Honourable Gaston Browne, as well as to the people and governments of their countries.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines celebrated 37 years of Independence from Great Britain on October 27th, and Antigua and Barbuda celebrates 35 years of Independence today, Tuesday, November 1st, 2016.

Prime Minister Harris’ congratulatory message to Dr. the Honourable Ralph Gonsalves reads in part:

“The theme selected for this year’s celebration: “Working Together to Enhance National Pride” speaks to the resolve of the Government and people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to enhance national pride through the accomplishment of development objectives with a united sense of purpose.

“I take this opportunity to reaffirm the strong bonds of friendship that exist between our two countries, as we work together to promote our Region and its people in spite of the myriad challenges we face in today’s unpredictable global environment.”

Dr. Harris’ congratulatory message to the Honourable Gaston Browne reads in part:

“The selected theme: “Building an Economic Powerhouse, Together – Antigua and Barbuda’s Independence 2016” is a reflection of the resolve of the Government and people of your beloved twin-island state, advancing with a sense of commonality, purpose and unity!

“This significant milestone represents further a tribute to the hard battles lost and won over the last thirty-five years, and it is our wish that it will also mark the ushering of a new era of social and economic prosperity for your country.”

On September 19th, 2016, St. Kitts and Nevis celebrated its 33rd Anniversary of Independence. During the celebrations, numerous expressions of congratulations and well wishes poured in from regional and world leaders, as well as from international organizations to Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, his government and the people of the Federation. Ambassadors from some of St. Kitts and Nevis’ diplomatic allies – namely Argentina, Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Jamaica, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, South Korea, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America – also traveled to the Federation for the joyous occasion.
