MINISTRY OF NATIONAL SECURITY ENCOURAGES EMPLOYERS TO SETTLE OUTSTANDING FEES

Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 02, 2016 (Ministry of National Security): The Ministry of National Security is requesting that employers who have not settled outstanding fees owing for work permits should do so immediately. Employers are reminded that fees are payable within ten working days of receiving the approval for work permit.

Additionally, requests for renewal of work permits for 2017 are to be made no later than 15 December 2016. Please be reminded that copies of the employer’s Social Security contributions for the employee must be submitted along with the renewal request and must be up-to-date.

No new applications or renewals would be considered until outstanding work permits fees are settled in full.

Employers are reminded that in accordance with Section 19 of the Immigration Act, Cap 6.02 of the Laws of Saint Christopher and Nevis, Revised Edition as at 31 December 2009, it is an offence to employ a person who does not have legal status in the Federation without having obtained a work permit. Further, according to Section 32 of the said Act, any person who is found guilty of an offence under this Act is liable, on summary conviction, to a fine of up to $10,000.00 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding twelve months or both.

Persons applying for Annual and Temporary Residence must present themselves at the Secretariat. Third party applications will not be accepted.
