Ten Public Sector Entities Join Civil Servants with Double Salary

The glad tidings of Christmas are coming soon for over 1000 additional employees of the public sector who will join thousands of civil servants, pensioners and government auxiliary employees employed by the Federal Government and thevNevis Island Administration in the enjoyment of a double salary.

The 13 month salary announced by the Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Sylvester Harris in an address to the nation on November 19, 2016 was paid yesterday.

In Parliament on Tuesday, Prime Minister Harris stated that double salary was also offered to employees of the following entities, namely Social Security, St.Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA), ZIZ, Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC), the Development Bank, Solid Waste Management Corporation, St Kitts Electricity Company (SKELEC), Financial Services Regulatory Commission, St Kitts Tourism Authority, Urban Development Corporation (UDC), and the Frigate Bay Development Corporation. Several private sector entities arealso expected to pay double salary this month.

Meantime VAT day is set for Friday, December 16, 2016. Prime Minister Harris has announced that the Police are on high alert and will beef up operations for VAT Day and the Christmas and Carnival Season.
