Appearing as a special guest on His Excellency Ambassador Michael Powell’s radio program The People’s Voice on Sugar City 90.3 FM this morning, Prime Minister Harris conveyed sincerest condolences to Mrs. Brandy-Williams, as well as to her family, the people of Nevis, and the Nevis Island Administration.

“She, like all those who are mourning at this time, will be in our prayers,” the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis said on The People’s Voice. You can hear the rebroadcast tonight from 8:00pm to 9:00pm.

Before reaching the upper echelons of the civil service, Mr. Williams had a long and distinguished career in teaching.

He started his teaching career in St. Kitts at the Newtown Primary School, which is now called the Tucker Clarke Primary School.

In Nevis, Mr. Williams taught at Prospect Primary School, which is now called the Ivor Walters Primary School. On Thursday, September 17th, 2015, when that school held a cocktail and prize-giving ceremony to mark its 50th anniversary, Mr. Williams was one of the persons awarded for having taught at the institution for 10 years or more.

Notably, too, Mr. Williams served as Principal at two primary schools, namely St. James’ Primary and St. John’s Primary, which is now called Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School. He was also Assistant Principal at the Gingerland Secondary School.

Almost 10 years ago, Mr. Williams moved to the Ministry of Tourism, where he would become Assistant Permanent Secretary before being promoted to Permanent Secretary in the Nevis Island Administration.

In August 2014, the Ministry of Tourism in Nevis paid homage to Mr. Williams in its Faces of Tourism feature on Facebook. The post garnered 130 likes and many effusive comments from persons who described him as a good man, as well as a dedicated and excellent teacher.

The late Mr. Carl Williams received his Teacher’s Training Certificate from the St. Kitts-Nevis Teachers’ Training College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Miami.
