SAINT KITTS AND NEVIS ACHIEVES ANOTHER FIRST IN BORDER SECURITY

September 2, 2025

Fellow Citizens, Good Morning. Based on the 8am advisory received from our local Met Office, the Tropical Storm Watch that was issued for St. Kitts and Nevis has been discontinued. This is founded on the analysis conducted by the National Hurricane Center and the Antigua and Barbuda Met Service which has responsibility for issuing watches and warnings for St. Kitts and Nevis.

The 8am analysis has indicated that Hurricane Jose is moving in a North-westerly direction (or generally in a more northerly direction). This slight turn to the north now puts St. Kitts and Nevis out of the range of storm force winds that extend only 60 miles to the southwest.

Although, storm force winds extend further in the northerly direction out to about 140 miles, we will be south of the centre and as such we will not be in the path of the storm force winds, as indicated earlier.

Again, the Tropical Storm Watch has been discontinued as of 8am and the ALL CLEAR is given.

Some showers and thunderstorms are still possible throughout the day with some brisk winds but NOT sustained winds, at storm force strength.

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis thank the citizens for adhering to the warnings issued by the local Met Office and NEMA and for taking the relevant precautions. You are encouraged to continue listening for weather updates from our met services as we go through this hurricane season which is forecast to be above average. We as a people must thank God for sparing us again and pray that those in the path of Hurricane Jose are spared as well.

May God continue to Bless and Protect us here in our twin island Federation.
