Oh Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 19, 2017 (SKNIS)—Following the passage of Hurricane Maria and due to the dislocation which has been occasioned, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice of the Prime Minister, has declared tomorrow, Wednesday 20, from 9:00am as National Clean Up Day. This decision was taken after consultation with the economic and social partners.

It is encouraged that citizens and residents would remain in and be a part of their community efforts to clean up the environment. Please be aware that fallen power lines may be live and extreme caution must be taken. Also, be aware that there may be residual effects of the storm. While every effort is being made by the government to return the federation to a state of normalcy, the government appreciates the collaboration of all citizens and residents.
