(BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS) The Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) is hosting a series of activities to mark United Nations World Environment Day. This is an effort to raise public awareness and claim a role as a strategic partner in shaping environmental policy. The theme to be observed is “Beat Plastic Pollution”. The highlight of the activities will be the public premiere of a short documentary video, “CFBC Combats Plastic Pollution”, featuring faculty, students and staff. Clips of plastic pollution on turtle nesting sites, beaches, streets and countryside of both St. Kitts and Nevis will be shown.
The impact of plastic pollution on land, water and air, as well as efforts to curtail plastic pollution in the Federation of St. Kitts & Nevis will be discussed. The premiere will take place on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the College’s Main Campus on Burdon Street.
An exhibit featuring biodegradable shopping bags (recently introduced at Best Buy groceries), larger carrying bags made of cloth, reusable cutlery, plastic-free water bottles and more will be showcased on the day. Attendees will have a chance to examine the items and consider ways to incorporate them in their daily life.
We acknowledge the GEF Small Grants Program UNDP, St. Kitts and Nevis, and the Department of Environment, St. Kitts and Nevis as strategic partners with the College to create a healthy environment.
The general public is invited to come out and share in this premiere at 6.00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018.
