ST. KITTS AND NEVIS AND KYRGYZ REPUBLIC ESTABLISH DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

London, England– 8TH June 2018 – At a ceremony in central London in the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic, St. Kitts and Nevis High Commissioner, His Excellency Dr Kevin M. Isaac joined his colleague, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic, Her Excellency Mrs. Gulnara Iskakova to sign a joint communique establishing diplomatic relations. The joint communiqué formalises their two countries’ relationship and opens the way for more pragmatic partnerships.  It also reflects the Federation’s commitment and the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in expanding the Federation’s diplomatic partnerships globally and in this specific case within Eurasia.

The Ambassador of Kyrgyz Republic expressed her delight in hosting the signing ceremony and committed to working more closely with High Commissioner Isaac to foster and expand interactions between the two countries through London.  In referencing her country’s history, commitment to development and peace, as well as, its warm and open culture; she promised to work together with the St. Kitts and Nevis High Commissioner to deepen relations on matters of common interests, including freer movement of citizens entering both countries.

The Kyrgyz Republic, formerly known as Kyrgyzstan is a Central Asian state bordering China.  It became independent with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.  The Kyrgyz Republic is a land-locked country of 6 million people with rich endowments in agriculture, hydropower, tourism and gold.

High Commissioner expressed pleasure at the cordial and efficient cooperation between the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic and the High Commission of St. Kitts and Nevis in concluding the requirements for today’s signing, which he see as indicative of future successful cooperation initiatives.  High Commissioner Isaac encouraged exploratory visits of both countries at the Ministerial level and expressed hope for further cooperation and exchanges.  Both diplomats also called for increased bilateral and multilateral cooperation across important matters such as tourism, education and climate change.
