Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 28, 2018 (SKNIS): The St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services is finalizing plans for its 16th Annual Summer Safety Programme and has urged parents and guardians to move swiftly to complete the registration process to ensure their child/children can participate in the learning and fun that are hallmarks of the July 16 to 20 camps in St. Kitts.

As customary, the camp will run simultaneously at three venues – the Basseterre Fire Station, the Edgar T. Morris Primary School in Tabernacle and the Sandy Point Primary School. Some 400 children, ages 5 to 12-years-old, are expected to attend. Fire Sub Station Officer (FSSO), Lesroy Caines, said that there is room for a few more children and noted that it will be filled on a first come first served basis. Registration forms are available from the fire stations in the respective districts.

The theme of this year’s camp is “Protecting the Future of Our Federation Through Fire Safety and Awareness”. Participants will learn about fire safety, water safety, traffic safety, disaster preparedness and resisting crime and violence.

The lessons will also be shared with children in Nevis who are registered for the programme there. The sessions will be held at the Jessups Community Centre from July 03 to 09 where 100 youth are expected to be in attendance.

The camp will be celebrating its 15th year in Nevis and FSSO Caines said that he is proud of the job that the men and women have done to grow the programme on the sister isle.
