The company readily responded to a request from the St. Kitts Netball Association to assist with the refurbishment of the courts located in Warner Park, in preparation for the OECS Under-23 Netball Championship. Teams from Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Nevis, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and host St. Kitts will contest the July 07 to 12 tournament.

Director of the Department of Sports, Anthony Wiltshire, noted that the contribution of Surrey Paving and Aggregate Co. Ltd. two weeks ago was an excellent demonstration of corporate responsibility.

“We are grateful to them for having come onboard and that is why we want to develop that relationship with our business partners [so] that in whatever capacity, they would periodically come and assist us at the sports department,” he said.

Director Wiltshire added that there was once a dedicated space at Warner Park, where the history of the sport is on display for persons to relive or hear about memorable moments as well as to learn about dynamic personalities of the sport such as Gillian Musgrave-Archibald, Pam Tyson, Jennifer Nero and others.

“There was actually a museum in that area and we have given back the netball association that area so that they can have their office,” he stated. “We have done some refurbishing in the area … because we want to ensure that we have a totally new facelift for the OECS game.”

Mr. Wiltshire said the department remains open to partnerships with private companies and individuals.
