In a brief but meaningful ceremony, a Magazine in Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court was officially launched at Government House, St. Kitts, this morning, 27th July 2018.
This Magazine is the product of the St. Kitts and Nevis 50th Anniversary Organising Committee through its Publications Sub-Committee. It is already being commended as a fitting encapsulation of the achievements of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court over the past half-century. In addition, the Magazine serves as a worthy tribute to the many Kittitians and Nevisians who have made significant contributions to the progress of the Court over the years.
The highlight of the ceremony this morning was the official handing over of a copy of the Magazine to His Excellency, the Governor General, Sir S. W. Tapley Seaton, GCMG, CVO, QC, JP. This handing over was done by Her Ladyship, the Hon. Madame Justice Pearletta Lanns, Resident Judge in St. Kitts, who is herself a distinguished daughter of the soil, and the first national of St. Kitts and Nevis to serve as Resident Judge here. Justice Lanns provided adept leadership to the Organising Committee in her role as Co-Chair along with Justice Lorraine Williams, Resident Judge in Nevis.
His Excellency the Governor General, who wrote the Foreword of the Magazine, applauded the hard work of the entire Organising Committee, and in particular the Publications Sub-Committee ably chaired by Mr. Anthony Gonsalves, Q.C, for making the Magazine a reality.
The Magazine is now available for sale at both High Court Registries in St. Kitts and Nevis, at East Independence Square, Basseterre, and Prince William Street, Charlestown, respectively, for a small cost of $50.00. Proceeds of sale will be donated to charity.
