His Excellency, The Governor-General Sir S. W. Tapley Seaton, GCMG, CVO, QC, JP, an alumnus of the University of the West Indies joined fellow alumni at several activities in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the University (1948-2018).
At the invitation of the Chancellor of the University, Mr. Robert Bermudez His Excellency travelled to Jamaica to celebrate “Chancellor’s Week” from 23rd – 29th, July, 2018. His Excellency attended the opening Reception at Jamaica House, the residence of the Prime Minister Minister of Jamaica and a special Alumni Pelican Awards Ceremony where seven Alumni representative of each decade of the University’s existence where presented with a Pelican Award and other gifts. His Excellency also paid a courtesy call on His Excellency The Governor-General of Jamaica The Most Honourable Sir Patrick Allen, ON, GCMG, CD, KSt.J and his wife the Most Honourable Lady Allen and exchanged views on several matters of mutual interest.
His Excellency The Governor-General on Tuesday afternoon attended a National Inter-faith Service at the St. George’s Anglican Church to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the University and on Wednesday evening in his capacity as Patron of Global Giving will host a Reception at Government House.
