The ambassador paid a courtesy call on the senior minister at his office at Government Headquarters on Thursday (August 02) as part of a farewell visit to government leaders. Last week, he met with Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Mark Brantley, and on Wednesday (August 01), he visited Prime Minister, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris.

Senior Minister Amory reflected on his interactions with the ambassador and credited his engaging style in bridging the gap between the respective populations.

“You have been a very good and supportive representative of your country,” Honourable Amory said. “Your initiatives and your support for educational programmes, our ICT (Information and Communication Technology) programmes and agricultural programmes, and generally for the training of our people to enable our people to really take advantage of the opportunities to grow and develop, has really been unparalleled.”

Ambassador Chiou graciously accepted the kind words and reciprocated Honourable Amory’s sentiment of friendship. He added that he was particularly proud of the Closed Circuit Television project, which mounted security cameras in multiple areas across the Federation, as well as the growth of the scholarship programme that affords citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis the opportunity to study in Taiwan.
