BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, September 10, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – The carefully executed hurricane home rehabilitation programme of the Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris-led Team Unity Government continues to receive excellent reviews from citizens and residents across the length and breadth of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The programme, which started earlier this year, has brought necessary improvements in the housing stock of persons affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in September, 2017.

To date, more than one thousand (1,000) persons have benefited either by way of duty free discounts on materials for repairs and renovations or assistance with both material and labour to repair and improve the conditions of their homes.

Every constituency has benefited through this programme, including persons of Constituency Six from Newton Ground to Harris’ Village.

At his most recent press conference on August 30, Prime Minister Harris praised the efforts of Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Mr. Osbert DeSuza, in coordinating the ministry’s response.

The prime minister made clear that the Hurricane Relief Fund (HRF), launched last year, has paved the way for the government to execute the most passive programme of support to ordinary people in living memory.

Regrettably, the disloyal Leader of the Opposition tried to sabotage the Hurricane Relief Fund, the proceeds of which are benefiting not only his constituents but the entire country.

The programme is expected to end this month.
