BASSETERRE (9TH Oct., 2018):  Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship, Carnival Horizon, will make its maiden voyage to St. Kitts on Wednesday, and will be the first inaugural call of the 2018-’19 cruise season, which officially started in October.

The Carnival Horizon deputed in April, and will arrive with a maximum capacity of 3,936 passengers.

A high-level team of tourism officials and partners, including the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Carlene Henry-Morton, are expected to go onboard to commemorate the inaugural visit with a plaque exchange ceremony.

“The Carnival Cruise Line and St. Kitts share a great partnership, which is evident by the inaugural arrival of the Carnival Horizon,” Morton said. “I have no doubt that this partnership will continue to strengthen, as we in St. Kitts strive to give the best possible experiences to our guests.”

Also attending the ceremony will be the Chairman of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Nick Menon, who pointed out that that the inaugural visit of the Carnival Horizon is a clear indication that St. Kitts, and the attractions, tours and services we offer continue to appeal to cruise ship guests.

“This is indeed a great way to kick off the new cruise season, which is projected to bring more than a million cruise passengers to the island,” Menon said. “St. Kitts is now considered by the cruise lines to be in the same marquee port status category as much larger destinations in the region.”

The Carnival Horizon, which will make a total of six visits to St. Kitts, is second in the line’s highly successful Vista class. Carnival Horizon also offers fun innovations like the bike-ride-in-the-sky aerial attraction, SkyRide; an IMAX Theatre; the Havana section with tropics-inspired staterooms and its own pool; and Family Harbour, featuring extra-roomy accommodations and the Family Harbour Lounge.
