His Excellency The Governor-General Sir S. W. Tapley Seaton, GCMG, CVO, QC, JP on Tuesday (16th October 2018) returned to the Federation following an Official Visit to the Republic of China (Taiwan).
The principal reason for His Excellency’s Visit to Taiwan was to participate in the celebrations of that Country’s 107th National Day activities on October 10 2018. His Excellency was welcomed at the Airport by a Guard of Honour of the National Guard some of whom had earlier visited Saint Kitts and Nevis and participated in our 35th Independence Anniversary Parade.
His Excellency together with the President of Paraguay, Mario Abdo Benitez and the Prime Minister of St. Lucia, Mr. Allen Chastanet were the principal Guests of Honour at the National Day Parade and were specially welcomed by her Excellency Dr. Tsai Ing-Wen President of Taiwan during her National Day Address.
His Excellency The Governor-General last visited Taiwan in 1987 (some 31 years ago) and welcomed the opportunity to see the continuing economic development of this Island Nation now ranked No. 22 in the world. His Excellency wishes to record his deep appreciation to the President and the Government of Taiwan for affording him and his delegation a most enjoyable Visit to the Republic of China (Taiwan).
His Excellency’s delegation for his Visit comprised Mrs. Marguerite Foreman, JP his sister, A.D.C. Major Lynn Wilkin and his Chief Security Officer Inspector Alphonso Hendrickson, QPM. This Visit was on the invitation of the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and served to further deepen the excellent and longstanding relationship between our two Countries.
