BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, 30th OCTOBER 2018 – In an effort to allow taxpayers to become current with their tax obligations, the Government of St. Kitts & Nevis is extending its Property Tax Amnesty Program, which includes, reducing the total amount of penalties and interest due to only $100, while the tax remain payable.

The Property Tax Amnesty period is extended until 31st December 2018. Taxpayers with arrears are therefore encouraged to visit the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) to discuss how they can be assisted through the Amnesty Program. Flexible payment plans are available for taxpayers who are unable to settle the full amount before the end of the amnesty period.

To be a part of the Amnesty Program, all payment plans including deposits must be made on or before 31st December 2018. The length of the payment plan and a minimum deposit would be determined after consultation with the IRD. Taxpayers are to note that in default of any payment, interest and penalties would be reinstated.

A Property Tax Account Statement has been sent to all taxpayers whose accounts are in arrears. This statement outlines the tax, interest and penalties due and serves as a reminder to delinquent taxpayers. For additional information, please call the Department’s Debt Management & Filing Compliance Unit at (869) 465-8485 Ext.3438 or visit our new office (Former John Gumbs Building) on the Bay Road.

The Inland Revenue Department is charged with administering the tax laws of the Federation in an efficient and equitable manner, to promote voluntary compliance, to maximize Revenue for the development of the Federation at the least cost to the public in a manner that warrants the highest degree of Public confidence in our integrity, efficiency and fairness.

The Inland Revenue Department is the primary revenue collections agency for the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis within the Ministry of Finance, located at Bay Road in Basseterre and Charlestown in Nevis.
