Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 06, 2018 (SKNIS): Airlift arrivals into St. Kitts continue to trend upwards when compared to comparable statistics from the previous year said Minister of Tourism, the Honourable Lindsay Grant, while expressing pleasure with the arrival figures for 2018 thus far.

“We recorded a 14.3 percent increase system-wide and a whopping 20.3 percent increase from North America – our largest source market – for the first half of 2018 compared to the same period last year. For the month of March alone, arrivals increased by 29.6 percent system-wide and 45.5 percent from North America over March 2017,” he said.

Major airlines, such as Air Canada, American, Delta and United, have expanded their service to the country from key international gateways like Miami, New York City, Newark, New Jersey and Toronto.  For instance, American Airlines started providing twice-daily non-stop service into the Federation from Miami for the first time in our history, for five days a week up from four.

For the first time in our history, Air Canada will serve the Federation for a full six months. The non-stop Saturday flights from Toronto will operate from November 03, 2018 all the way through April 27, 2019.  In previous years, Air Canada flights to the Federation operated from late December through early April.  So the expanded service brings an additional six weeks of non-stop airlift out of Toronto.

Also for the first time in our history, there will be a non-stop service out of the Upper Midwestern region of the United States when Sun Country Airlines out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, starts Saturday service into St. Kitts and Nevis, beginning December 22, 2018 and running up to April 20, 2019.
