His Excellency The Govenor-General Sir S. W. Tapley Seaton, GCMG, CVO, QC, JP this morning (Monday 12th November 2018) received at Government House Saint Kitts, Her Excellency Mrs. Gentiana Serbu, the recently appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Romania to the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis and based in Havana, Cuba.
Her Excellency is the first Ambassador of her Country accredited to the Federation and presented her credentials to His Excellency. Romania sits in the South-Easter Region of Europe and borders the Black Sea between Bulgaria and Ukraine with a population of 19.59 million.
Her Excellency is a qualified water engineer and has been a professional diplomat for over a decade. In the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, the Republic of Romania contributed EURO$30,000 to assist the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis and the Water Services Department with the reconstruction of water supplies throughout the Federation. The Republic of Romania is also providing future training programmes and tertiary level scholarships in areas of health, engineering and other fields. The Republic of Romania will assume the Presidency off the Council of the European Union in the first semester of 2019 beginning in January.
