LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AND RSS OFFICIALS PRAISED FOR IMPROVED SECURITY IN ST. KITTS AND NEVIS

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, November 14, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister)– Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris has commended officers of the various law enforcement agencies in St. Kitts and Nevis, as well as their colleagues from the Regional Security System (RSS) who are presently in St. Kitts and Nevis, for the work they are doing in bringing about improved safety and security in the Federation.

The Prime Minister says the improved sense of safety and security is being felt by the wider community, as church leaders, the business community and ordinary citizens have used various forums to express words of gratitude for the job being done.

Addressing the nation during his monthly Press Conference today, Wednesday, November 14, 2018, Prime Minister Harris said officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, Her Majesty’s Prisons, the St. Kitts-Nevis Customs and Excise Department and the Fire and Rescue Services must all be commended for their work to date.

“My Cabinet is very pleased with our law enforcement efforts and the success of the RSS mission to date,” the prime minister said.

Moreover, the Minister of National Security appealed to citizens and residents to give law enforcement officers the benefit of the doubt as they follow the intelligence provided to them by local, regional and international agencies.

Prime Minister Harris reiterated, “In our democratic country, law abiding citizens have nothing to fear. Those who commit crimes and harbour criminals, on the other hand, will always be fearful of law enforcement officers because their ways are evil and their actions are contrary to law and order, peace and good governance.”

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) responsible for Operations, Mr. Adolph Adams earlier told the Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister that the teamwork being demonstrated by local law enforcement officers and RSS personnel is very strong, particularly because of the familiarity that exists between these officers as a result of previous, ongoing joint regional training programmes.
