Minister of Tourism Hon. Lindsay F.P. Grant presents a St. Kitts plaque to  Captain Corrado Locanis
BASSETERRE (8TH December, 2018): Minister of Tourism The Hon. Lindsay F.P. Grant led a delegation of tourism officials and partners on board the MSC Preziosa, to commemorate its inaugural visit to St. Kitts with a plaque exchange ceremony.

The MSC Preziosa arrived on Thursday with a maximum capacity of 3,959 passengers.

Captain of the MSC Preziosa, Corrado Iaconis, said that for the past two cruise seasons the MSC Cruise Line has been sending new ships to St. Kitts.

“We truly love coming to St. Kitts, and we have many more ships that will visit soon,” Captain Iaconis said. “Since MSC’s first visit to the destination the cruise line has continued to bring new ships to the island every season. In the past, St. Kitts has received cruise calls from MSC Fantasia, Opera, Divina, Orchestra and Poesia, and now today we have debuted MSC Preziosa. The destination will continue to see more of MSC Cruises in the future.”

Minister Grant said that MSC Cruise Lines is expanding rapidly, and that he has visited their headquarters at least three times this year  to strengthen the partnership. This has resulted in MSC ships being scheduled to make a total of 15 calls to St.Kitts in this cruise season.

The Minister also pointed out that as the cruise sector continues to grow, a variety of visitors will come to our shores.

“Through our strategic planning not only are we welcoming our North American visitors but the destination has grown in its appeal to the European cruiser as well. As a result, there is a high demand for various languages in order to enhance the guest experience. Over the past years, we have employed multilingual customer service agents to meet the growing demand for foreign languages at our ports,” Minister Grant said.

Minister Grant noted that it was equally important that young people, stakeholders, taxi and tour bus operators and other front line employees learn foreign languages such as French, Spanish, Italian and German.

For the month of December, the destination will receive four inaugural calls: MSC Preziosa, Symphony of the Seas, Norwegian Jade and Norwegian

After disembarking the MSC Preziosa the couple went shopping and brought these two St. Kitts outfits. They then returned to their cabins, dressed in their St. Kitts outfits, and returned to Port Zante to happily go on a tour.
