Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 31, 2019 (SKNIS): During a press conference, held on June 03, Minister of Tourism and Minister with responsibility for the St. Kitts Music Festival, the Honourable Lindsay Grant, said there will be a continuous use of local media talent.

“When we began in 2015, the entire videography was done by a company out of Jamaica and we had decided very early back then to use the talent that was home grown,” he said.

The minister noted that in 2015 about 19 youngsters from St. Kitts and Nevis came out to do videography.

“The quality of the videography that they produced after the music festival was fabulous and fantastic to say the least,” he said. “Since then we have ensured that the videography is done by the young local talent that we have here in St. Kitts and Nevis and till this day 2019 we still continue with that.”

Minister Grant stated that even the media management is homegrown.

“I think we are fulfilling part of the remit of the St. Kitts Music Festival which is not only to have a fantastic festival, but to ensure that the local community grows with the festival by leaps and bounds and that is really happening,” said the minister.

The tourism minister stated that part of the production is being done again by young locals

“That augers well for the future of the St. Kitts Music Festival and for that we are grateful,” he said.

This year’s 23rd St. Kitts Music Festival spans from June 27 to 29, 2019 with other fringe activities during the month of June.
