COUNCILOR KEN CLIFTON ANNOUNCES RE-ELECTION CAMPAIGN
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Many of you are aware how passionate I am about our community and our country. To some extent, my story embodies the American Dream.  I came to this country in my early teens, graduated high school, college and law school and together my wife and I have raised our sons into young adults.  My wish is for the same opportunities for my fellow residents and their children.

But today Washington’s “divisive and disastrous agenda” is trickling down into many towns and communities. As a consequence that Dream is turning into a Nightmare for far too many. It is now up to us to fight back.  We must expand opportunity for all, irrespective of class, color or creed.

And so it is with much determination and resolve that I officially announce my candidacy for re-election as your District One Town Councilor. Should I be so honored to receive your support on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, I will continue to serve with diligence and devotion.

Together we have accomplished much. With your support I have led the fight against the Holbrook Transfer Station.  Immediately following the last elections, I organized a one-man demonstration, then I organized a community-wide demonstration and subsequently a tri-town demonstration. I have also organized several community meetings and have kept residents up to date on the issue.  On September 18, 2019, Randolph won a great victory when in a sudden reversal of fortunes, the Holbrook Planning Board denied approval of the Transfer Station which is expected to be challenged by TLA.

I have opposed harmful and nuisance taxes and with your support, we now have a state-of-the-art police station, a renovated library, a brand new fire station, a community center and new parks and open spaces.

While holding leadership accountable, I have supported our schools, students and families. I have worked with agencies to bring scholarship opportunities, financial literacy workshops and have supported the STEM/Science fair.  I have collaborated with Mattapan Tech to bring free computer literacy classes for our residents and have also supported and promoted our local businesses.

To increase cultural awareness, I have worked with the Vietnamese community, the Filipino community, the Haitian and Caribbean community and all other communities. When President Trump insulted our communities I sponsored Town Resolutions condemning his racist remarks. As President of the Council, I was the first to officially recognize the significant contributions of the LGBTQ community. I promoted the theme “Out of Many, we are One community.”

Accountability is a requisite for good governance. I have held myself answerable to the public by holding community meetings including a Water Forum and I have kept residents informed through regular press releases, articles, social media and other tools.

Although together we have made much progress, there is much more to be done.  Should you continue to put your trust in me, I will continue to vigorously represent your interests.  This is a time for serious and thoughtful leadership.

I would be honored to receive your support and your vote on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 so that we may continue the mission upon which we have embarked.
