EDUCATING CITIZENS ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP FORMS PART OF GEW 2019

asseterre, St. Kitts, November 20, 2019 (SKNIS): The education of citizens about what it means to be an entrepreneur will be the key focus for Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2019, which started on Monday, November 18, and runs until Sunday, November 24, 2019. The GEW is held under the themes GEW Education, GEW Ecosystems and GEW Inclusion.

Minister with responsibility for International Trade, the Honourable Lindsay Grant, during an address to the nation on November 19, 2019, said that “education is key to make our people well rounded, informed and productive citizens.”

“This GEW, we will continue our engagement with schools, working with the very young to foster their interests and creativity so that we can effectively grow the young population of entrepreneurs in St. Kitts and Nevis,” said Minister Grant.

The Honourable Minister went on to highlight that only through education will the nation of St. Kitts and Nevis “be able to raise awareness of entrepreneurs as a career choice.”

Minister Grant also spoke about entrepreneurial ecosystems, saying that throughout the week, the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis will be “sharing knowledge, inspiring and connecting individuals to organizations in order to support the development of our entrepreneurial community.”

Honourable Grant highlighted the inclusion aspect of the theme as well, saying that this theme, is there to “remind others that our work is about everyone regardless of race, age, gender, background or location in St. Kitts and Nevis.”

He said that the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has “a great supporting role to play by helping entrepreneurs in St. Kitts and Nevis to flourish.”
