PM HARRIS ADVOCATES FOR FISHERIES SECTOR TO PLAY LARGER ROLE IN THE POST COVID-19 ECONOMIC RECOVERY PERIOD

           A BILL to amend the Criminal Procedure Act, Cap 4.06.

           BE IT ENACTED by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the National Assembly of Saint Christopher and Nevis and by the authority of the same as follows:

1.        Short title.

This Act may be cited as the Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Act, 2021.

2.        Interpretation.

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, the expression
           “Act” means the Criminal Procedure Act, Cap 4.06.

3.           Amendment of Act.  

The Act is amended in by inserting a new section 99, immediately after section 98, as follows

“99. The Chief Justice may in the exercise of powers conferred by section 17 of the Supreme Court Order, Fifth Schedule to the West Indies Act Cap 1.01 make rules regulating the practice and procedure of the High Court in all matters of criminal procedure not provided for by this Act or any other enactment.”.
