BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, March 11, 2021 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – The Ministry of Health’s vaccination programme and public education drive on the COVID-19 vaccine continues this evening (Thursday, March 11) with a COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic and Information Session at the St. Paul’s Community Center from 7:00pm.
Presentingthis evening will be the Medical Chief of Staff at the JNF General Hospital, Dr. Cameron Wilkinson, who has been one of several at the forefront of the country’s fight against COVID-19; Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Delores Stapleton Harris, and District Medical Officer, Dr. Bernicia Nisbett. Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris will also be in attendance.
Allresidents of Constituency Number Six and the surrounding communities are invited to attend and get firsthand accurate information from medical experts and also have their questions and concerns related to the vaccine addressed.
Thesession forms part of the Government’s broader public education programme on vaccination that is continuing across the Federation to which persons are responding well.
Figuresfrom the Ministry of Health show that over 5,000 persons have so far received their first vaccine shot in less than three weeks of the vaccination roll-out.
PrimeMinister Harris said he is pleased that more and more people are recognizing the value and importance of being vaccinated. The prime minister is therefore urging all others to visit the nearest health center to be vaccinated.
“Vaccination is the only way to get us back on the path to normalcy and it is critical to our efforts to deliver the stronger and safer future,” said Prime Minister Harris.
Similarvaccination information sessions have so far been held in West Basseterre and Central Basseterre.
