Win-Win: Gender Equality means Good Business Programme hosts the WEPs Forum
on June 9th and 10th 2021
• This is the most important event in the region within the framework of the Win-
Win Programme, created in partnership by UN Women, International Labour
Organization (ILO) and financed by the European Union for gender equality in business.
• The meeting will bring together more than 40 international experts in gender and
business, along with important leaders of companies in Latin America and the
Caribbean – the focus of the discussions will be actions for equality in the
business environment for economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.
• Fully online, the WEPs Forum will also feature success stories of companies that have
endorsed the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs).

and government leaders in Latin America and the Caribbean will converge on June 9th and
10th, from 2 pm to 6 pm (GTM-3) t o speak a t the “WEPs Forum
2021: Reaffirming the Commitment to an Equal Future”. Organized under the framework
of the “Win-Win Programme: Gender Equality means Good Business” – an initiative
created in partnership with UN Women, the International Labour Organization (ILO) and
funded by the European Union for gender equity in business – this 4th edition of the
forum will be entirely online, featuring panels, lectures and interviews. Participation is
open to anyone with an interest in expanding their knowledge about the value of
promoting actions for gender and race equality in business environments.

The WEPs Forum is a critical event in the Latin American and Caribbean agenda
for the discussion on gender equality in business, promoting successful cases of
companies that achieve specific results based on actions promoted by the
Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) – UN Women and Global Compact guiding
platform to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace,
marketplace and community.
This year, for two days, the WEPs Forum will host more than ten activities, with eight hours of
exclusive content. Among the business leaders from Latin America and the
Caribbean, the panels will include: Andrea Johnson, Chairman of the Board of Jamaican
Women in Coffee (JaWiC); Kadia Francis, founder of Digital Jamaica and Digital Disruption
Agency; Joel
Nomdarkham, Head of Social Content & Digital Brand, YELLO MEDIA GROUP; Omar Cabral,
Country senior partner and Assurance leader at PwC (Uruguay); Soledad
Matos, General Manager of Oracle (Chile) and, Stacey Hines, President, Jamaica
Technology & Digital Alliance and Group Strategic Planner, ICD Group Holdings Ltd. The
presentations also feature representatives from leading European and American
companies such as L’Oreal (France), SAP (Germany), Acrux Partners (United Kingdom)
and Walmart (United States). Every
leader will share stories of successful implementation plans of the WEPs, highlighting the seven
Principles.
The main goal of the event is to promote gender equality as a tool for business and show the
value of intersectionality in the concept of planning culture, along with presenting
cases on how women’s empowerment has contributed to the recovery from the current
COVID-19 crisis.
The content will address several themes in the private sector, with a gender perspective, such
as the value of the commitment of business leaders to gender and race equity in senior
management positions, women’s representation in the Technology sector, gender stereotypes
in Advertising and Communications, the advantages and challenges for women in the supply
chains. In addition, the issues of the importance of intersectionality in the hiring process,
career plans and how to prepare new generations for leadership positions will arise.
This year’s edition will also be special as some of the main results of the “Win-Win
Programme: Gender Equality means Good Business”, which is nearing its end ( in June
2020) will be presented. Jamaica is the only Caribbean country currently participating in
the “Win-Win: Gender Equality means Good Business” Programme – Argentina, Brazil, Chile,
Costa Rica, and Uruguay are the other countries – to promote gender equality through the
private sector by enabling women to participate in the labor market, access decent work,
entrepreneurship and autonomy, and by eliminating gender pay gaps.
