Our telephone conversation of Monday June 28th and Tuesday June 29th refers. Very sincere thanks to those of you who were able to speak with me on the proposed News Editors Huddle with the OECS Commission on July 7th, and give a commitment in principle to attend. Below is the access link as promised.
As discussed, the OECS Commission is implementing the project Building Resilience in the Eastern Caribbean Through a Reduction in Marine Litter. The Project contains a public education and Awareness component, which some of you media systems have been supporting via paid airtime. The campaign’s anthem and music video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hF61x2NKRUo) was released in early April and features popular artistes from the OECS Member States.
Under the Public Education component, the Project is creating avenues for involvement and participation with different interest groups in ways that are mutually beneficial. The OECS Journalist Challenge – Clean Oceans is one such approach (details attached).
The Commission wishes to present the concept to Editors as the main authority in the newsroom, and also to get your input on how this initiative can be further refined to ensure an interesting, exciting and rewarding partnership for the news fraternity, their audiences and the Project.
Please confirm your intention to join us return email. The Huddle is take no more than 1 hour.
