$275 000 CONTRIBUTED TO FOOD VOUCHER INITIATIVE
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A recent outbreak of the deadly coronavirus on St Kitts and Nevis has again impacted the economy and caused the government to enact a State of Emergency. Resultantly, many persons are experiencing hardship.

As our social corporate response, the Social Security Board has allocated $250 000 to a Food Voucher Initiative. RAMS Supermarkets and Horsford’s Valu Mart have collaborated with Social Security in the execution of this program and have contributed $25 000 to the initiative bringing the total output to $275 000. Additionally, both supermarkets have put measures in place to facilitate the operation.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Department of Social Services will be coordinating the selection of qualifying individuals and the distribution of the food vouchers to the recipients.

Approved recipients on both St Kitts and Nevis will receive food vouchers valued at $200.00 to be used at Horsford’s Valu Mart and RAMS Supermarkets. Thirteen hundred and seventy five persons (1375) are set to benefit from this initiative.

The Social Security Board appreciates the response from both supermarkets and their willingness to partner in this meaningful exercise.

We take this opportunity to encourage other corporate citizens to contribute in whatever way they can to support our citizens during this difficult time.

The Board implores the general public also to adhere to the established protocols, including the use of non pharmaceutical measures and inoculation to keep us all healthy and safe.
