PRESS RELEASE (July. 21, 2021) — The St Kitts National Youth Parliament Association wishes to empower young persons through its Ward-Hanley Scholarship & Mentorship Program, which aims to offer academic support with the provision of guidance and educational materials to each recipient. In alignment with the Association’s motto “Equality and Justice in Nation Building”, SKNYPA has decided to provide an opportunity to assist parents and their new high school students with the skills and assets needed to successfully navigate this new field of scholastic mobility. As such, the program provides the awardee with a monetary award to purchase school supplies to aid in the furtherance of the student’s education.
As SKNYPA is about to celebrate its 20th anniversary, where it has aided our nation with the molding our youth for the last 2 decades, we thought it best to continue supporting our youth. To this end, SKNYPA will be accepting applicants for the second edition of their scholarship and mentorship program and are inviting eligible parents, teachers and members of the general public to encourage students who are leaving primary school transitioning to high school to apply. The deadline to apply is August 6, 2021. In order to be considered for this scholarship, students must:
1. Submit a completed application form.2. Have obtained a minimum term average of 75%.3. Be an active member of a local community group.4. Show proof of parent(s)/guardian(s) economic need.5. Submit two (2) references: one (1) teacher and (one) community group leader.
*Applicants related to members and/or direct family members of the Association are not eligible.
