Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 21, 2021 (SKNIS): The rate of COVID-19- related hospitalization has declined in St. Kitts and Nevis and can be attributed to the Federation’s proper management of the virus, said Dr. Dwain Archibald who is responsible for the Management of COVID-19 cases at the Joseph Nathaniel France (JNF) General Hospital.

“Recently, we have been seeing fewer patients coming in presenting with symptoms that would raise a red flag to say yes, this seems like it is COVID-19. We have been seeing fewer patients actually walk in to be tested and I would like to believe it’s because we are controlling the spread of the virus on the island,” said Dr. Archibald, on the October 20 edition of Working for You.

Dr. Archibald indicated that the hospital is equipped to manage COVID-19 cases if any person presents with severe symptoms of the virus.
He praised the Federation’s COVID-19 contact tracing as an exemplary model, adding that such measures also contribute to a decline in hospitalizations.

“This model that we have adopted is working very well with the case managers and the contact tracing, said Dr. Archibald, adding that other countries within the region do not have such privilege. “Families in these islands that get positive tests, when you ask them about case managers they have not a clue what I am speaking about. There is no one following up with them and guiding them to exactly what is happening.”

Currently, there are six persons hospitalized, two in Nevis and four in St. Kitts, according to Dr. Archibald.
