BASSETERRE (3rd November, 2021):Minister of Tourism The Hon. Lindsay F.P. Grant, in a televised address to the nation on Monday, declared November as Tourism Awareness Month, under the theme “Tourism for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Economic Recovery.”

“It is imperative that we all appreciate that this transversal, dynamic sector called Tourism has tremendous potential for advancing prosperity and for driving inclusive, sustainable development for current and future generations,” Minister Grant said.

Minister Grant pointed out that now is the perfect time to put a spotlight on Tourism, as the Federation continues to recover and recalibrate from the impacts of the pandemic. Minister Grant said the theme “Tourism for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Economic Recovery,” was carefully selected to reflect the critically important role tourism must play going forward in delivering benefits that are more equitably spread across sectors and within our communities, so they are enjoyed more widely and fairly by ALL citizens and residents.

“Throughout this crisis, our country and the tourism sector have shown great resilience and the capacity for strategic thought and action. The phased, “All of Society” approach adopted from inception to manage the pandemic, clearly underscores our realisation that measurable, sustainable recovery and growth in the sector can only be realized through the consistent practice of inclusion, cooperation and collaboration,” Minister Grant said.

Throughout this month the Ministry of Tourism and the St. Kitts Tourism Authority will host a variety of events and activities to highlight the importance of the Tourism industry. Some of these event include: Heritage and Wellness Hike, Sen Family Feud, Beach Clean-Up and the Plastic Free Info-cade.
