BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, November 29, 2021 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Over the past week, words of congratulation and commendation have been pouring in for Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris on the occasion of his 28th anniversary of being an elected Member of Parliament in St. Kitts and Nevis.

It was twenty-eight (28) years ago today, November 29, when Dr. Timothy Harris was first elected as the people’s representative for St. Christopher Seven in the National Assembly. And for six consecutive general elections thereafter, Dr. Harris was handsomely returned as the Parliamentary Representative for Constituency #7, which stretches from Belle Vue to Ottley’s.

Hundreds of persons have used several media, such as radio and television programmes and various social media platforms, to express their words of commendation and to congratulate Prime Minister Harris on this significant milestone.

One well-wisher commented, “Please accept my sincere congratulations as you celebrate your 28th anniversary as a Parliamentarian, but most specially as the Parliamentary Representative for Constituency Seven. Your record of representation and delivery to the constituents of number seven stands head and shoulder above any Member of Parliament in the history of our Federation.”

“Your contribution to the revitalization of the housing stock in Constituency seven and land distribution are among your greatest achievements, equaled only by your support to the vulnerable. You have transformed our various communities. You have been chosen to lead our Nation at such a time as this.  May God continue to bless and guide you always,” another individual stated.

Prime Minister Harris attended a special service at the House of Deliverance New Testament Church of God in Tabernacle on Sunday, November 28 to give God thanks for his 28 years as a Parliamentarian and for the unwavering support of the people.

At that service, constituents, supporters and well-wishers of all ages sang, read poems, and made presentations to Dr. Harris.

Deputy Leader of the People’s Labour Party, the Honourable Akilah Byron-Nisbett, added her own words of congratulation to Prime Minister Harris, saying, “Thank you for your service, thank you for your commitment and thank you for all you continue to do for the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, for the people of Constituency number seven, for the people of the People’s Labour Party and everyone else who you continue to touch.”

Constituent Violet Williams said Dr. Harris has done much to transform his constituency in the last 28 years by investing in the personal development of his constituents and by significantly improving the infrastructure and the delivery of necessary services.

She said, “PM, I want to thank you for your annual Help-a-Child Programme and how you have steered this country. You have built a brand new modern state-of-the-art multi-purpose community center in Ottley’s; we have the Explorers Clubs’ headquarters in Phillip’s Village; we have a health center in Tabernacle; we have the refurbished stadium at Mansion village; we have the building of the Viewing Docks at Black Rocks – and they are beautiful by the way.”

Throughout his illustrious tenure as a Parliamentarian, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris has held many portfolios as a Minister of Government, and in 2015 was sworn in as the third Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The Honourable Prime Minister is also the longest serving minister in Federal Government in the history of St. Kitts and Nevis.
