BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, December 03, 2021 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris had the honour of cutting the ceremonial ribbon, symbolizing the official opening of phase one of the ultra-luxurious Ramada Hotel, developed by Caribbean Galaxy Real Estate Corporation.

The Federation’s newest hotel, located in the Whitegate Development Area on the outskirts of St. Paul’s, was opened during a brief ceremony on Thursday, December 02, 2021.

Delivering remarks to mark the occasion, Prime Minister Harris said that the Ramada Hotel has now added 300 deluxe rooms to the hotel room stock in St. Kitts and Nevis, “thereby increasing the competitiveness of our tourism product.”

“As we attempt to attract more airlines, very often the question that is being posed is the number of hotels that is available. Today, we are celebrating the official opening of Ramada and I want to place on record the Government’s deep appreciation to Ramada…for the investment at this critical moment in time,” Prime Minister Harris said.

The prime minister commented that it was not by coincidence that the Ramada Hotel was developed in the Whitegate area, as his Government is progressively trying to develop the rural part of St. Kitts “as one of the premier attractions of our tourism product.”

“It speaks well to efforts at diversifying the economy, especially at this critical period in time, and I am sure that the guests who will come will certainly enjoy the accommodating environment here in the northeast of St. Kitts and Nevis,” Dr. Harris said.

Prime Minister Harris added, “We are pleased that this product will contribute to the stronger and safer future which we promised our people; we are pleased that this will add to the employment road for our young and not so young, and the full range of impact is yet to determine because we are going to find people in farming, in fishing and in different areas benefiting from the opening of this particular facility.”

President of Caribbean Galaxy Real Estate Corporation, Ms. Ying Jin said once fully completed, the Ramada Hotel will be providing direct employment for approximately 400 citizens and residents of St. Kitts and Nevis, “not to mention the benefits to the local communities, for taxi drivers, shops and other businesses.”

In addition to its 300 guest rooms, the facility boasts a large conference room, a top tier Chinese restaurant and a bar.

Joining Prime Minister Harris for the grand opening of the Ramada Hotel were the Governor General’s Deputy, His Excellency Michael Morton; Cabinet Ministers the Honourable Eugene Hamilton, the Honourable Akilah Byron-Nisbett and the Honourable Jonel Powell and Chief Executive Officer of the Citizenship by Investment Unit, Mr. Les Khan.

The St. Kitts Ramada Hotel is an approved project under the Citizenship by Investment (CBI) Programme.
