Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 16, 2021 (SKNIS): A new television channel is coming to St. Kitts and Nevis and a wider global audience in the new year. The entertainment channel will be launched in the second quarter of 2022 and will feature local content, acting as a showcase for persons from all walks of life in the creative sector in the Federation.

The channel is a collaborative venture between the Ministry of Entrepreneurship, Entertainment and Talent Development (MoENT) and The Cable. Honourable Akilah Byron-Nisbett, Minister responsible for MoENT, shared the news on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, while presenting on the Budget for the fiscal year 2022.

“The advent of MoENT TV creates a space for creative products to be put on display for a wider audience,” Minister Byron-Nisbett stated. “All creatives have the potential to be content creators, even though some may require guidance and training in order to achieve this. The platform for dissemination of exportable talent is being fast-tracked to get creatives back on their feet creating and earning.”

The Cable’s involvement in the project will ensure that the new channel will be available beyond the borders of the twin-island Federation.

“Once that channel comes online, it will not just be for local consumption. It will also be seen regionally and internationally as well so our creatives will be able to get that type of exposure needed so that their talent can then be exported as well,” the Minister added.
The Government is very proud of this development and the opportunity it represents to enhance the creative sector.
