Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 07, 2022 (SKNIS): On Saturday, February 05, 2022, the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) held the virtual launch of the CFBC Alumni Association. Minister of Education, the Hon. Jonel Powell, during his remarks, encouraged more young adults to attend the CFBC, noting the important role the institution plays in nurturing future leaders of the Federation.

“I had the full experience here at CFBC and it really encourages me to want to give back and to really celebrate the excellence that this College has been known for, to encourage current students to strive for that same excellence and to encourage future students to come here since there are many different options now. Some persons chose to leave the island to study abroad but there is something special about the CFBC. There is something special about coming here and interacting with students from different High Schools from across the Federation who you may have encountered maybe in a school competition but you now sit in a classroom with them and see how they learn about different aspects of our small society here in St. Kitts and Nevis,” said Minister Jonel Powell.

The Minister of Education also urged fellow alumni that from time to time there may be the need to contribute to the institution financially, via experience or personal time but stressed that former students should consider their support to the CFBC a duty to ensure continued excellence at the educational institution.

“I believe we have a duty as former students to also contribute our time, our expertise and our experiences to ensure the excellence that is archived here at the CFBC continues to be achieved and to ensure that future students benefit from the treasure trove of knowledge that exists here and continue to, whether it be a minister of education in the future, be a future prime minister, future governor of the Central Bank but whatever it may be we have a duty to continue that excellence and continue to encourage that excellence. And so, I give commendation to those who would have worked to establish this association and I encourage all past students to really take some time out and through whatever means you can give back to an institution that is deserving and an institution that I believe is necessary for this country to move forward and to ensure that a certain level of education, a certain level of civic pride, and to ensure the CFBC continues to strive from height to height,” said Minister Powell.

The CFBC is the premier higher learning institution in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. The institution fosters the development of responsible, self-sufficient citizens by delivering a range of academic, professional and vocational courses and programmes that reflect high values and standards, and which prepare students to make lifelong contributions to their communities.
