“I would have had the pleasure of working with Clifford Thomas as
Commissioner of Labour from as early as 1997. This was shortly after our
Federation became a Member State of the International Labour
Organisation (ILO) in 1996. We would have worked on the National
Tripartite Committee on International Labour Standards for approximately
13 years; as well as major programmes focused on matters such as the
Labour Market Information System, the ILO’s Decent Work® Country

Programme, the Labour Exchange System, and the Feasibility Study on
the Establishment of a National Productivity Centre for St. Kitts and Nevis.
His support to, and facilitation of these key initiatives geared towards the
further development of our national labour force were greatly appreciated,”
Minister Phipps added.
The funeral service of Mr Clifford Thomas is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday,
March 24, 2022 at Zion Moravian Church, Victoria Road, Basseterre.
The Minister of Labour, Hon Wendy Phipps, would have already reached out the
immediate family of Mr Thomas shortly after his passing. Through this medium,
the Department of Labour now reiterates its expressions of sincere condolences
to the family of former Commissioner of Labour, Mr Thomas, in particular, his
wife Mrs Kathleen Jean Thomas; his children Alwyn Thomas and Lavida
Thomas-Richardson, and their children.
May his soul rest in Peace.
