Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 22, 2022 (SKNIS): The Cabinet of Ministers met on Monday, July 18, 2022, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris. During their meeting, Cabinet deliberated on several matters of national importance to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

  • The Cabinet considered submissions that would redound to the economic benefit of citizens and the country.
  • The Cabinet was brought up to date on information regarding the progress of the desalination plants that are to come on stream. In the meantime, to alleviate the pressure being faced by some households due to the water shortage, the Government is actively engaged with a private entity to purchase and supply water to the affected areas in the Frigate Bay Area.
  • The Cabinet also approved the waiver of fees for work permits for non-nationals and their spouses who were affected by the economic fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The Cabinet also approved duty-free concessions on school supplies from July 18th to September 30th, 2022.
