Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Basseterre, Saint Kitts (4th, July, 2023) – Following the successful staging of the 2023 Triennial Diplomatic Week by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has stepped forward and demonstrated its continued commitment to the strengthening of the deep bonds of friendship with Saint Kitts and Nevis.
In a brief handing over ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, 3rd July, 2023, His Excellency Michael Lin, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), made a presentation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the amount of US$100,000.00. Accepting on behalf of the Ministry was the Rt. Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Economic Development and Investment.
The Rt. Honourable Minister in noting the strong bonds of friendship between the two nations, expressed his deepest appreciation for not only the significant tangible support provided for the Ministry’s diplomatic week but also for Taiwan’s staunch support in the wholesome development of the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Such a donation will aid in defraying the expenses incurred in preparation for Diplomatic Week 2023, which was held over the period 23-28 April, under the theme “Driving Change: Advancing a Vision for a Sustainable Island State.”
The donation is also timely, as this year marks 40 years of diplomatic friendship between Saint Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan). The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis looks forward to celebrating this significant milestone on 23rd September, and anticipates greater collaboration with the Republic of China (Taiwan) in the near future.
