FOUR SENTENCED TO PRISON ON MULTIPLE DRUG CHARGES

On July 3rd, 2023, His Honour Renold Benjamin sentenced four (4) men to His Majesty’s Prison on multiple drug possession and importation charges. The charges were previously laid following a major drug find by local authorities on a cargo boat, MV Elizabeth C, at the St. Kitts Deep Water Port on October 4th, 2022.

The contraband consisted of cocaine and cannabis. The cocaine registered a weight of 801.3 kilograms (1,762.86 pounds) with a street value of seventy-one million three hundred and sixty-nine thousand one hundred dollars ($71,369,100). The cannabis had a street value of one hundred and forty thousand one hundred and sixty dollars ($140,160). The charges and prison sentences are as follows:

-Saleem Kevin Ali of Trinidad was sentenced to three (3) years for the Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply, and three (3) years for the Importation of Cannabis. His sentences are set to run concurrently at His Majesty’s Prison;

-Peter Oliver Scotland of Trinidad was sentenced to five (5) years and four (4) months for the Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply; five (5) years and four (4) months for the Importation of Cocaine; and five (5) years and four (4) months for the Possession of Cocaine. His sentences are set to run concurrently at His Majesty’s Prison;

-Micheal Jevan Jack of Trinidad was sentenced to three (3) years for the Importation of Cannabis, and three (3) years for the Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply. His sentences are set to run concurrently at His Majesty’s Prison; and

-Desue Mc Farlane of Carricacou was sentenced to eight (8) years and four (4) months for Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply; eight (8) years and four (4) months for the Importation of Cocaine; four (4) years and ten (10) months for the Importation of Cannabis; four (4) years and ten (10) months for the Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply; and eight (8) years and ten (10) months for the Possession of Cannabis. His sentences are set to run concurrently at His Majesty’s Prison.

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force once again extends its gratitude and commendation to the The St. Kitts and Nevis Customs Enforcement Division, and The St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force Coast Guard Operational Division for their strong collaboration and stellar assistance in this matter.
