AGRICULTURE MINISTRY SECURES FUNDING FOR 2 NEW TRACTORS

Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 21 2023);
On Friday, 21st July 2023, Minister of Agriculture et. al, Honourable Samal Duggins announced that the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Marine Resources and Cooperatives successfully secured funding and approval to purchase two new tractors that will aid in the enhancement of land preparation services to bring relief to farmers.

The government of St. Kitts and Nevis, through the Ministry of Agriculture recognizes the importance of land preparation which is essential to provide plants with the best soil conditions for their development and ensures that crops can achieve the best yields and increase farmer’s crop production.

In commenting on the latest update via his social media platforms, Minister Duggins said that this “investment will undoubtedly strengthen our farming sector and pave the way for increased productivity and modernization”.

Land preparation services are offered through the Engineering Unit at the Department of Agriculture, LaGuerite. These services include harrowing, banking, raking and brush cutting.
