Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 27, 2024 (SKNIS): During the March 26 sitting of Parliament, the Honourable member for St. Christopher Three (3), Konris Maynard, supported the Medical Laboratories Bill, 2024. 

The proposed legislation aims to establish a Medical Laboratories Council, tasked with licensing, monitoring, and inspecting medical laboratory activities, while addressing associated concerns.

Minister Maynard underscored the importance of the Bill, noting its provisions for confidentiality measures similar to those safeguarding patient-doctor interactions, ensuring the protection of information accessed by medical laboratories. 

Additionally, Minister Maynard highlighted provisions within the Bill that grant citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis the right to appeal decisions made by the Council, ensuring due process and bolstering public trust in the regulatory framework surrounding medical laboratories.
