This MOU aims to strengthen our fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing and to highlight our commitment to reviving our High Seas fishing fleet. Additionally, the signing of this MOU marks a significant stride towards demonstrating to the EU Commission our serious commitment to combating IUU fishing.

The Department of Marine Resources expressed gratitude to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for their assistance in drafting new fisheries regulations, which will incorporate a sanctioning system to combat IUU fishing and address gaps in our current regulations.

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources, Honourable Samal Duggins and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and International Transport, Tivanna Wharton, signed the MOU.

The signing took place at the Grenada Conference Room, Marriott Resort.
