The Independence 41 celebrations will commence on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, and continue through Sunday, October 27, 2024, encompassing a wide range of activities that reflect the spirit and solidarity of the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis. From the much-anticipated National Colours Days, where citizens and residents are encouraged to wear green, yellow, red, white and black on designated days, to the National Heroes Day celebrations on Monday, September 16, 2024, every event has been thoughtfully planned to ensure a memorable and inclusive celebration.

Dr. Marcus L. Natta, Cabinet Secretary and Co-Chair of the Independence 41 Organising Committee, expressed his excitement about the upcoming festivities.

“This year’s Independence celebrations are a testament to the resilience of our people. The diverse range of activities planned reflects our commitment to celebrating our nation’s history, culture, and achievements while also looking forward to a prosperous future together,” Dr. Natta said.

Ms. Viera Galloway, Director in the Prime Minister’s Office and Co-Chair of the Organising Committee, emphasised the importance of community involvement.

“We are thrilled to present a calendar filled with events that cater to every segment of our society. From youth-focused initiatives to events that honour our heroes and traditions, we invite everyone to participate and show their national pride. Together, we will create lasting memories as we celebrate 41 years of Independence,” said Ms. Galloway.

Highlighted events include:

  • National Colours Days on August 30, September 06, 13, 20, and 27, where citizens are encouraged to wear the colours of the national flag.
  • National Tree Planting Day on August 31, 2024.
  • Patriotic Day on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, encouraging all to wear their national colours and participate in the festivities.
  • Independence Day Parade Ceremonies on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
  • Independence State Service and Gospel Concert on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
  • Night of Dance on Sunday, October 27, 2024, as a grand finale to the celebrations.

The full calendar of events is available on the official government website and social media platforms. The public is encouraged to stay informed and participate actively in the celebrations.

Dr. Natta said as Saint Kitts and Nevis marks its 41st year of Independence, the spirit of harmony and pride will undoubtedly resonate across the Federation. He encouraged all to come together to honour our past, celebrate our present, and inspire our future.
