PRIME MINISTER DR. DREW STRENGTHENS EDUCATIONAL TIES DURING VISIT TO SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY AND A&M COLLEGE

Baton Rouge, Louisiana, October 02, 2024 (SKNIS): Prime Minister, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, commenced a fruitful visit to Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on October 02, 2024, and engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing educational collaborations between the university and the Federation, focusing on creating opportunities for student exchange programmes and advancing research partnerships.

Dr. Drew was welcomed by university leadership, including Chairman Myron Lawson, President Dennis Shields, and Chancellor Dr. Orlando McMeans. The visit commenced with a formal meeting, followed by a comprehensive tour of the Southern University campus, showcasing various departments and facilities. The prime minister toured the Center for International Education, the Gaming Lab, and the Digital Media Arts Studio, reflecting the university’s innovative approach to education.

During his remarks, Prime Minister Dr. Drew emphasised the importance of international collaboration in education.

“Our visit to Southern University has reinforced the value of partnerships in fostering educational growth and development for our students and faculty. We look forward to exploring opportunities that will benefit both St. Kitts and Nevis and Southern University,” said Dr. Drew.

The day concluded with a tour of the Agricultural Research and Extension Center, where discussions on advancing agricultural education and technology were held, further cementing the shared commitment to academic and scientific collaboration.
