St Kitts and Nevis signs Memorandum of Understanding with German University

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, 11 October 2024 – The Government of St Kitts and Nevis through the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment, Climate Action and Constituency Empowerment signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Technische Universität Hamburg (TUHH), in English, the Hamburg University of Technology, on Friday 11 October 2024 towards the agenda of “Engineering to Face Climate Change”.

In 2020, Prime Minister Hon Dr Terrance Drew visited Germany and began conversations around fostering partnership and providing training opportunities for St Kitts and Nevis.

Government of St. Kitts and Nevis Unveils Vibrant “Independence 42” Calendar, Celebrating 42 Yearsof Sovereign Progress

Today, The Ministry, represented by its Minister, Hon Dr Joyelle Clarke and her delegation continued those conversations and met with the university’s President Professor Dr –Ing. Andreas Timm-Giel and Professor Dr H. Cornelius Herstatt, Head of the Institute of Technology and Innovation Management at the TUHH and discussed creating new opportunities in education and training around engineering for climate change, circular economy and, certification for the future.

The MoU is dedicated towards advancing citizens of St Kitts and Nevis through higher education programmes with the overall objective of furthering the Sustainable Island State Agenda. Hamburg University of Technology is practice-oriented with a focus on engineering programmes with experts in energy self-sufficiency, circle economy, innovation management, geothermal techniques, innovative waste management, algae research, and medical technology and certification for the future.
This opportunity ensures that potential students will have the opportunity to share and learn on innovative spaces through this technical cooperation.

The MoU was facilitated through the ongoing diplomatic support of Special Envoy for St Kitts and Nevis to Germany, Ama Martin and Prof Dr Cornelius Herstatt.
