Job Summary

The Medicinal Cannabis Authority is dedicated to ensuring the safe, equitable, and responsible use of cannabis in St. Kitts and Nevis. The Quality Insurance Inspector in the Medicinal Cannabis Authority will be responsible for ensuring that cannabis growers, businesses and other stakeholders operate following all applicable laws, regulations and industry standards. This may include ensuring compliance with national laws, appropriate product labeling, managing inventory and records, and overseeing employee training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Policy Development and Implementation: Leading in the development, implementation and maintenance of procedures, policies and systems to prevent unethical, illegal or improper usage or control of cannabis at facilities
  • Compliance audits and assessments: Conducting audits of facilities to assess compliance with relevant laws and regulations on cannabis
  • Reporting and monitoring: Preparing internal or external reports on audits and regulatory developments for senior management
  • Compliance regulatory assessments: Assess compliance regulations to identify compliance risks and opportunities and advise management accordingly
  • Training and education: Conduct staff, licensee and public training on the laws, policies and standards related to the control and monitoring of medicinal cannabis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, public administration, business or a related field is preferred
  • Must have experience in business operations, auditing or regulatory compliance
  • Previous experience or deep knowledge of the cannabis industry is an asset
  • Professional courses and certifications in related areas are also beneficial

Key Personal Attributes

  • Continuous learning: Must stay up to date with new and existing laws, regulations, standards and policies related to cannabis regulation in St. Kitts and Nevis
  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate in various formats with licensees, the public and the Medicinal Cannabis Authority
  • Integrity: must have a solid moral compass and makes honest and ethical decisions
  • Analytical: able to understand and dissect the complexities of procedures and regulations

Salary will be based on qualifications of the successful candidate. The annual salary can range from K33 to K41
